Should you make a website from scratch or use a website template?

When you start a website, you can either make it from scratch or you can use some templates to get you started. There are many pros and cons to these two things. When you create a website from scratch, you have a lot of flexibility to work around with. If you are making a website that sells hair colour sprays then you can put all sorts of colour art on your website. If you are making a website that is focused on video game reviews then you can fill your website with art related to Halo, Mario, and Crash Bandicoot. When you create a website from scratch, you give your website more personality. You give your website more individuality. You can set yourself apart from the rest when you develop a website from scratch. One drawback that you have when you make a website from scratch is the investment of time. You will be spending a lot of time making your website.

Using a website template?

On the other hand, if you decide to use web site templates then you will be able to save a lot of time. There are many website templates out there to choose from. If you are a journalist who wishes to write blogs then there may be templates out there of web pages with note designs and old newspaper designs. If you are a Christian that wants to spread the Word of the Lord then there may be templates out there of web pages with holy designs and pictures of Jesus Christ. Whatever you are on the web, there will certainly be some template out there that you could work with. There are drawbacks when you work with templates though. First of all, your flexibility is restricted right from the very beginning. You will not be able to express yourself fully as an artist. If you are the journalist who is working on a website and you want to make your website appear like ancient scrolls with sepia effect then you are not really sure if you can pull that off with mere templates. Second, when you work with templates, you will not be able to stand out from the rest. Since you are using a template, someone else might have used it already in the past. If you want to be unique on the web then you need a webpage design that stands out from the rest and not an ordinary run off the mill website.
