Website building options: build/make/create your own, hire a web designer, or use a web template…
Start a website on your own
If you decide to make a website on your own then you should be prepared for the challenges that you have to overcome. For an inexperienced web designer, it will be very difficult to build a beautiful website. You may work with simple HTML, PHP, and Flash, but at the end of the day, it will be very difficult for you to make a website that stands out from the rest. If you have experience in webpage design then all you have to worry about is the number of hours you will have to spend in order to make a website that is spectacular. The nice thing about making your own website is that you can work at your own pace and you do not have to pay someone else to do it for you.
Hiring a web designer or a web design firm
If you decide to hire a web designer, you have to make sure that you communicate to him or her very clearly. Communication is essential in making an outsourced website creation successful. If you and your hired web designer do not see eye to eye, the final web page will not satisfy you completely or may even bring out your temper. Whether you are hiring a web designer or contracting a web design firm, you should communicate your ideas clearly so that the creation of the website will be just the way you want. There are many web designers out there that you can hire for your website. You can hire them through personal contacts, over the internet, or through professional referrals. One nice thing about hiring someone to do your work is that all the dirty work is off your hands. All you have to do is pay.
Using a ready made template
There are some programs and websites out there that allow you to work on templates. This is the middle ground of making a website from scratch and hiring someone else to make the website for you. If you are going to work with templates, all you have to do is fill them up with the necessary information you want displayed. One nice thing about templates is that they are easier and they are usually free. The down side of using templates is that your website will unlikely stand out from the millions of websites out there in cyberspace today.
